As an out-of-state Towson student trying to find new places to experience, let me turn your attention to the Belvedere Square Market. Only 20 minutes away from the university’s campus, this market is in a quiet Baltimore neighborhood that has a calming and cozy atmosphere like a home away from home.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the smell of bacon coming from Atwater’s. This comfy, sit-down eatery serves a number of fresh baked goods, from pastries to sandwiches to breakfast plates. Because I went to the market during early brunch hours, the smell of breakfast food and coffee filled the market area. 

The prices in Atwater’s are not too expensive to eat at if you want a nice meal with a homecooked feeling. As I walked by to explore the place, people were sitting down in the outdoors sitting tables enjoying their brunch and mingling with friends. This eatery gives the market a calm, comfortable feeling that makes you slow down and really take in the surroundings.  

Continuing my journey through the market, one of the shops that drew my attention was The Seasoned Olive. This small store offers a variety of infused olive oils and vinegar. It also had a number of handcrafted kitchen items like ceramic bowls, It has a number of items that can make for a great, simple gift for people that love to cook.

I spent most of my time in The Season Olive wandering around and looking at every herb and oil they had. The vast variety of ingredients created a faint smell that reminded me of the smell that fills a home while cooking. The scent combined with the calming atmosphere made this store feel homely. As I was walking around in the shop, time felt like it slowed. 

Outside at Atwaters, I sat down at one of the tables for a while just appreciating the warm weather and the quiet bustle of the place.
